3. Town Square Afghan - The Town Square Afghan designs presented in this issue, the school and the opera house, hold special appeal for me. My hometown didn't have an opera house, but we did have a band shell in the city park where I performed as a youngster. Although I was too young to remember much about that Independence Day talent show, the photographs in our family album tell it all. My pink leotard, tutu and tights, and the sequined tiara pinned precariously atop my head, paint the picture of an aspiring ballerina. Of course, school is such a large part of our lives as we're growing up, and the memories we hold dear from those years cannot be replaced. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have gone to a large city school. But when I look back, I cherish my small-town upbringing and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

4. God, Home, and Country - A muted variation of traditional red, white, and blue adds special to these complementary designs. Group these framed pieces together in a favorite nook, display them in easels on a tabletop, or hang them on a wall that needs just a touch of color. Quick and simple to stitch, they'll add an appropriate finishing charm to a favored spot in your home, and will also make great gifts for your country-loving friends.

(God Bless Our Home and Battlefield Bears) - Show your love of country with this colorful trio of patriotic designs that is sure to inspire you long after the Fourth of July. Whether you're a proud veteran, or just proud to be an American, this stitchery is certain to appeal to you. Perhaps you'll decide to stitch all three. No matter your preference, these stitched pieces are sure to remind you of the pride you hold as an American, on Independence Day and everyday.

6. Waiting At The Hitching Post - not so many years ago, a young girl, the apple of her father's eye, May have waited patiently at the Hitching Post for Daddy to arrive. She'd tell him about her day, and share special times that would become cherished memories to last a lifetime. If the wind was from the right direction, she could hear the clip-clop of his horse's hooves narrowing the distance to home. Waiting At The Hitching Post conjures up images of these treasured days gone by.

Second in a series of antique Santa designs, Old-Fashioned Santa will bring a child''s joy to your heart, both while you're stitching it, and season after holiday season as you display it with the companion pieces in your completed collection,

9. Rural Pleasures ("Berry Delicious", Welcome, Homemade Goodness, and Pork-N-Beans) - There's a certain kind of pleasure that comes from doing things the old-fashioned way - from down home cookin' and reveling in the excitement and good clean fun of a foot-stompin' hoedown to relaxing with the rhythmic cereal and sway of an old front porch swing.

Plus much much more! Thank you for looking and happy stitching!
