Published by Craftways Corporation, this magazine showcases some of the best designs of September/October 1991. It also has articles about designers, as well as new products and techniques. It used to be one of the top selling magazines until it was discontinued.
Included designs are:
1. Weather Vanes - Once a Christian symbol believed o ward off evil, the rooster - as a weathercock - also tells us which way the wind is blowing.
2. Halloween Pop-Ups - Turn trick-or-treat into trick-and-treat this year! These three Merry Halloween toys- a whisker-y kitty who wants to be a scary witch, a wide-eyed mouse in a purple pirate's mask, and a buck toothed bunny decked out like a scarecrow - are guaranteed to make youngsters ( and the young-at-heart) chuckle, chortle, and grin.
3. A Year in Cross Stitch; Horse, Doves, Quilts, & Sunbonnet - This new series gives you something to look forward to every month of the year. A prancing steed gets January off to a lively start. A pair of doves is perfect for February and Valentine's Day. Quilts hang on a branch to catch fresh March breezes. And for April, what could be better than a bonnet (just in case it showers) and the first flowers of Spring?
4. Silhouettes - The sweep of an eyelash, the curve of a chin, a childlike nose - what sweeter way to preserve the features of a child than with a silhouette worked in cross-stitches.
5. A Cross-Stitcher's Hometown - It's a great place to visit and you would want to live here - in this enchanting cross-stitch village.
6. Spring Bouquet - Ginger Gouger's floral paintings blossom in cross-stitch.
7. Roses, Roses, Roses - Cross-stitch a single large blossom in the center, or several smaller ones along each side, choosing from soft Peace rose or crisp American Beauty rose colors.
8. Illuminated Manuscript II - The glory of medieval illumination shines anew in this companion piece to Barbara Ann Richter's original "Illuminated Manuscript" presented in the Jan/Feb '90 issue of CC&CS.
9. Place Card Contest Winners - If hosting parties is one of your favorite pastimes, you'll love to let your guests know you honor their presence by adding that extra touch - place cards.
10. Sampler Doll - All dolled up - that's your favorite houseplant or book with on of these cornhusk dolls dressed in a diminutive sampler skirt.
Plus much much more! Thank you for looking and happy stitching!
